Are we lucky or just that good?
My Dad knew at 12 years old he would be a great photographer. His family was poor but he begged and begged and by the time he was 14 the family had saved up enough money to buy him a camera. I still have his first camera, "Big Bertha", a Graflex Speed Graphic 4x5 Press Camera that he used his whole career. After graduating from High School, he went to College to study photography on an Athletic Scholarship.

My father set records in the mile with a 6 foot stride and was slated to go to the cancelled 1940 Olympics. When the US entered WWII, he enlisted in the Army. After the War, "Big Bertha" and he made quite a name for themselves. Everyone called him, "One Shot" Fambrough! My father always knew the decisive moment and only needed one shot to capture it. Was he Lucky or just that Good! Does it matter? The outcome is the same; he captured that one moment in time that is just perfect. If he shot a second sooner or a second later, he would have a different photograph. He might have a good photograph but he might have missed, "That Great Photograph".

"One Shot" Fambrough's legacy has been passed down to me, his son. I am not only a Photographer, but I also shoot Video and Film. I inherited my father's ability to capture that Decisive Moment. The question still stands; am I Lucky or just that Good? I did not always have a desire to follow in my father's foot steps.

I was going to school to be a lawyer, I had all my credits to graduate, but I became so frustrated with the pictures I was taking with my Polaroid One Step that I threw my camera against the wall breaking it into a million pieces. I knew what a good picture looked like and that wasn't it. I went out and bought my first camera, a 35 mm Minolta XD 11. I shot my first roll of film and I was hooked. I bought and read every photography book and magazine I could get my hands on. I could not get enough. I studied and graduated from the New York Institute of Photography. I still wanted more. I studied video and film production and graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City. I could not stop.

I have credits on 6 Major Motion Pictures. I have won numerous photography honors. I have mentored many protegees. I just don't feel right unless I am shooting, editing, producing. Am I Satisfied? I want to be perfect! I will never, ever be satisfied....

But I want YOU to be; that is why I have a lifetime guarantee on everything I do.

All I ask; "What can I do to make it Right for You next time?" Because, I don't want to be lucky; I want to be that good!
