I am currently chairman of the Minority Business Alliance for the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and, through its POWER program, get to see dozens of small businesses in the program and outside of the program that are striving to be successful in our city. William Fambrough stands out in my mind.
I know how devastated his business was following the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and how much he struggled to keep it afloat. I recall that, even though those difficult times, he never stopped supporting others in the community when he needed support himself. He's doing much better today and has really created a turnaround in his business by lots of hard work and, I believe, as a consequence of his willingness to help others.
He is deeply involved in the community through donating time, equipment and money to those organizations that help children - organizations such as the Division of Family Services, the Don Bosco Center and the Kansas City Boys and Girls Choir to name a few. He has also been a mentor to at-risk youth and others who have an interest in one day being in a business like his.
If you ever observe William Fambrough doing what he does, you will understand that he loves the business of video and photography and really enjoys capturing those special moments in everyone's lives.
